Health Centres in Gopalganj and Siwan districts of Bihar State

Major findings/recommendations:

Many beds in one specialty sometimes remain vacant while another specialty may have more patients than the available beds which cause inconvenience to them. Health facilities do not have the necessary tools and products to clean and dry linen due to which patients sometimes get soiled linen. The food distributor must wear gloves and his head be properly covered. Standard menu charts must be maintained to utilize local resources and meet specialized needs of the patients as the case may be. The provision of potable drinking water through water purifier must be provided in all of the health facilities.
Barriers to Nonscalpel Vasectomy (NSV)
as Family Planning Method in Bihar

Major findings/recommendations:

Religious belief is also one of the reasons for unwillingness to adopt NSV. The involvement of local community leaders may enhance the acceptability of NSV. The publicity of NSV through wide range of posters, hoardings, print media and social media are needed as NSV does not require prolonged bed rest and does not affect work of beneficiaries who work on daily wages. The awareness level should be enhanced for NSV as it does not require any medical charge, provision of insurance if pregnancy occurs or any other complication and completed in one OPD visit.
